- Client: King’s College Hospital Trust, London
- Project: Rachel Ward, Orpington
Orpington Hospital in Kent, part of Kings College Hospital Trust, is located on the site of a hospital built during the First World War and funded by the government of Ontario, Canada, hence its original name Ontario Military Hospital. It now is a specialist local hospital providing neuro-rehabilitation and orthopaedic treatment.
The work was carried out in two phases with phase 1 consisting of an admissions clinic with the following accommodation:
- Six consulting rooms
- Patient gym
- Reception and waiting areas
Phase two involved the refurbishment of Rachel Ward, part of which had not been used for more than two years, to bring it up to modern standards and requirements.
The whole project was completed in early 2016 at a cost of £1.2 million, which equated to an extremely limited budget of less than £1000 per square metre.
