Wilby & Burnett actively seek to limit the impact of our designs on the environment and, as well as complying with current Building Regulations, we have significant experience in designing to the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) ‘very good’ to ‘excellent’ rating. We also look to specify sustainable materials wherever possible.
All of our designs work within the constraints imposed by budgets, the client’s brief and legislation. And, working in conjunction with specialists, our overall approach is to maximise natural lighting and natural ventilation and minimise heat loss and energy consumption.
We also have experience of the following ‘green’ systems and energies:
• Biomass boilers
• Ground source/air source heat pumps
• Wind turbines
• Solar PV (photovoltaic)
• Solar water heating
• Green roofs
• Grey water recovery
