We are delighted to announce that Wilby & Burnett has been honoured at the prestigious Greater Cambridge Design and Construction Awards 2026. Our project, the new Cottenham Village Hall, was named the winner of the Best New Building (under £3m construction value).
A New Heart for the Community
The Cottenham Village Hall project involved the demolition of an ageing single-storey structure and the delivery of a modern, two-storey community hub. Situated within the village’s Recreation Ground, the new building was designed to meet the evolving needs of the local population while providing a functional, aesthetically pleasing space for generations to come.
The project encompassed:
- A New Two-Storey Layout: Doubling the utility of the site without compromising the surrounding green space.
- Enhanced Infrastructure: An extension to the car park and ancillary developments to support the increased use of the hall.
- Technical Excellence: Ensuring the transition from the old structure to the new was seamless, on time, and within budget.

The Greater Cambridge Design and Construction Awards celebrate projects that demonstrate high-quality design and construction, with a focus on sustainability, accessibility, and the contribution to the local built environment.
Winning this award is a testament to our team’s commitment to technical rigour and architectural integrity.
